This week on the #BuildingBetterPeople, we meet Cameron Blackwood. Cameron describes being in the best shape of his life when he was in high school where he played both football and baseball. One cool fact is that Cameron was coached in baseball by Craig Biggio—yes Craig Biggio from the Astros!
Cameron talks to Charlie about what that experience was like, but after high school, he noticed his weight and fitness started to change, which he says wasn’t surprising since he replaced his 4 hour workouts with beer and tailgates (how many of us can relate to that!).
Cameron also talks about his recent Murph prep and how he hopes to be in good enough shape to complete this challenging workout.
We think a lot of people will really relate to Cameron’s story and struggles. Enjoy!

The coaches here have your health in mind. When you share with them that you are not feeling 100%, they can make recommendations on how to scale the workout so that you not only prevent further injury, but you can also help you recover faster.

Today on the #BuildingBetterPeople podcast, we hear from Sara Spivey, who is 22 and from Athens, Tx. She just finished up her bachelors degree in Animal Science last year, and is now working as a paralegal as she prepares to go to law school.
Sara started playing basketball at the age of 3! Growing up, she played sports all year round. In high school, one of her coaches introduced her to Crossfit workouts, which she loved, especially compared to the general conditioning and running she had been doing during her off-season.
However, when she moved to College Station to start school, exercise was the last thing on her mind. It wasn’t until she went home for the summer in between her junior and senior year and joined a local Crossfit gym that she found her love for working out again.
Sara talks about how difficult it can be to find the balance between wanting to eat healthy and having a social life. She shares her tips on how she has overcome this struggle and how she can eat healthy AND enjoy time with friends and family. Enjoy!

Meet Bailey. She is 23 years old, pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from SHSU, and is happily married to her husband, Caleb.
In this interview, she talks about how her mental health journey and fitness journey affect each other. She has found that there is a mutual relationship between the two as she has grown older.
The overall message of today's podcast is one of hope as we accept and address problems that pop up along the way in our lives.

Meet Amie, she is 30 years young and is a member of the Fighting Texas Aggie class of 2013. She lived in Florida and worked for Disney for a while, then eventually came back to Texas to work for A&M. She wrote a report about her fitness journey that she shares in this podcast. Her intent is to inspire and help others. One of her greatest passions is to help out children and those who are in a tough spot. She is very willing to share her story to connect and uplift others.
Amie’s fitness journey began with race walking and eventually led to her meeting Brittany, a trainer at BoomFit. Please listen for a very heart-warming story.
