Coach Robert is gearing up for another competition in January and talks about how he likes to view the calendar as a competition season. It keeps him motivated and focused on improvement.
Coach Bennett has aspirations to hit some big numbers in the olympic lifting category. He has been rebuilding his core strength and focusing on squatting. His goals show you the big picture of coming back from an injury.
Coach Brandon talks about switching up his programming in 2021 which helped him hit a new fitness ceiling. He is switching it up again in 2022.

Meet Thorn Jones. Thorn is 35, and lives and works in Austin, Tx. He is originally from Tennessee, but moved to Austin from Baton Rouge in March of 2020. Thorn is here this week to tell us about his fitness journey, which includes losing 33 pounds in the last one hundred days.
Thorn grew up playing football and lacrosse and was one of the shortest kids in his class until he hit a growth spurt in high school and shot up to 6’5. A self proclaimed big boy, Thorn says he started putting on the pounds when he got into his late 20’s and early 30’s. He had a major gut-check moment the day after his 34th birthday when he woke up with swollen knees and a hurting back after playing around with friends, and decided he needed to make some changes.
One change he made for this fitness challenge was giving up alcohol (and other sugary beverages). If you’ve been wondering what giving up alcohol can do not just for your fitness, but your overall life, then you’ll want to listen to Thorn’s story. Listen in to also hear about the fitness challenge he joined with his friends that helped motivate him to get serious about his health.

Meet Carol — she has lived here for 8 years now with her husband and three adorable kiddos. Taking care of her kids (ages 8, 7, and 2!) is her full time job and it sure keeps her busy! In today’s episode, Carol talks about her fitness journey, focusing specifically on her journey after having children. If you’re a momma like Carol, you’ll definitely want to give this episode a listen! One thing she really struggled with is finding the time to take care of herself, which can be difficult when you’re chasing after little ones and taking care of your household.
Carol also talks about the goal review sessions she had with her coach and how they assisted her in reaching her goals. You heard a little bit about review sessions on the podcast a few weeks ago. Here is your chance to hear what this may look like for one of our members!

Meet Jacob - he is 28 years old and is from Belton, Tx, AND…. is our newest coach here at Boomfit! He started playing the violin when he was just a young boy and says it has had a great influence throughout his entire life. He was heavily devoted to being a great instrumentalist, meaning he was putting in 3-4 hours a day of practice, and several other hours of looking at sheet music, researching famous and well known musicians and other things that revolved around the violin. He still plays now, and uses it as a form of worship for his personal spiritual life. Jacob also shares some of the people in his life that have had the greatest impact on his spiritual journey.
To get him out of the house for a few hours, his parents introduced him to the sport of golf. He wasn’t particularly interested in it, but he WAS competitive, and that meant that he strived to be the best he could be.
Jacob’s fitness journey really started though when he was in college and was paired with a suite mate, Mark, who was fit and extremely health-conscious. Mark helped turned things around for Jacob, who had been suffering from frequent illnesses and insomnia.
There is SO much more that Jacob shares about his life —but you’ll have to listen in to hear the rest. This is definitely one you won’t want to miss out on!
