10 Min Pep Talk - Don’t trade minutes for calories
Wednesday Dec 28, 2022
Wednesday Dec 28, 2022
In this month's 10 minute pep talk, Charlie expands on an email he sent out earlier this week where he discussed the common misconception that if you workout, you can automatically eat more. Yes if you workout you likely are able to eat more freely. But, that creates a very unhealthy thought pattern in your brain. Exercise should be something you do. It is making your body healthy, stronger and it will perform better for you long term. It also just happens to burn calories but that is not WHY we do it.

Wednesday Dec 21, 2022
Wednesday Dec 21, 2022
Today on the #BuildingBetterPeople podcast, we hear from Sara Spivey, who is 22 and from Athens, Tx. She just finished up her bachelors degree in Animal Science last year, and is now working as a paralegal as she prepares to go to law school.
Sara started playing basketball at the age of 3! Growing up, she played sports all year round. In high school, one of her coaches introduced her to Crossfit workouts, which she loved, especially compared to the general conditioning and running she had been doing during her off-season.
However, when she moved to College Station to start school, exercise was the last thing on her mind. It wasn’t until she went home for the summer in between her junior and senior year and joined a local Crossfit gym that she found her love for working out again.
Sara talks about how difficult it can be to find the balance between wanting to eat healthy and having a social life. She shares her tips on how she has overcome this struggle and how she can eat healthy AND enjoy time with friends and family. Enjoy!

Wednesday Dec 14, 2022
Wednesday Dec 14, 2022
Meet Jake. Jake is 34 and recently re-joined College Station Crossfit after taking a bit of a break during the COVID pandemic.
Jake went to high school in Chicago and played just about every sport out there. He came to College Station hoping to play baseball at TAMU, but soon realized that wasn’t going to happen with a shoulder injury he sustained in high school.
Facing this realization, Jake spiraled into depression and a drug addiction until he found Jesus and a home church at Brazos Fellowship.
Jake discusses his fitness journey, the ups and the downs. Ultimately, he feels better when he is working out, which is why he decided that coming back to Crossfit was the best decision for him since he not only missed the working out, but also the community.
Give this one a listen—its one you do NOT want to miss!

Manny Muniz - Something is always better than nothing
Wednesday Nov 23, 2022
Wednesday Nov 23, 2022
Meet Manny— he is 36 and is part of the Amarillo National Bank (ANB) crew that has been working out with Boomfit for a few months now. ANB is a unique company—in addition to taking care of their employees in terms of professional development, they are also taking care of them physically by ensuring that health and fitness is part of their day-to-day life.
Manny used to be a member of a commercial gym, but one month when reviewing his gym billing to submit to his company for reimbursement, he noticed he had ZERO checkins in the past month. That was eye-opening for him and he knew he needed something different. Now, he enjoys completing the CrossFit workouts with his co-workers and talking all things Crossfit while at the office, too. Junk food and sodas have been replaced in the lunch room with healthier options, and this has really shaped their branch into a stronger community.
Manny is also a great example of how something is better than nothing. You don’t have to start your fitness journey going to the gym 7 days a week and going hardcore on your nutrition. He is only able to come to the gym three days a week, but in the 2.5 months of working out at Boomfit, he has gained 7.4 pounds of muscle and lost 3 pounds of fat! Manny also shares some of the other ways being healthier impacts the work environment. If you’d like your boss to invest more in your physical health, make sure to share this episode. Its a good one!

Wednesday Nov 02, 2022
Wednesday Nov 02, 2022
Meet Ally. She started the 6 week challenge a month before quarantine hit in 2020.
Ally has been a cheerleader for quite some time, and even went to Worlds as a senior in high school. Growing up, however, she always had bad eating habits. When she moved to College Station for college, her bad habits continued, while the working out stopped due to having a busy schedule full of studying and coaching cheer. This led to her not feeling great, physically and mentally.
Then, she found the 6 week challenge, and this helped change her entire view on healthy habits, and has really made her realize that there is more to being healthy than just how you look. Enjoy this throwback episode, and if the 6 week challenge sounds like something you could use in your life, be sure to reach out to us!
